03 — Methodology & limitations

How to read the figures.

Portfolio performance is presented as cumulative time-weighted return, which is intended to remove the effect of deposits and withdrawals. The benchmark is the FTSE All-Share Total Return Index. The chart uses the dated monthly checkpoints published in portfolio updates.

The figures are drawn from my personal records and have not been independently audited. Portfolio values, prices and holdings are month-end snapshots rather than real-time data, and positions may change between updates.

The record began on 13 May 2025, so it covers a short period. Concentration can amplify both gains and losses, and the results should not be regarded as typical.

Another investor’s outcome would differ because of dealing prices, bid-offer spreads, fees, tax, timing and portfolio construction.
